11 Days and counting

So I have about eleven days left until the Evil Halloween site needs to start... And I may actually be ahead of schedule for once.

Having the article queuing system from last year was helpful... it allows me to put up content in advance (to be auto-published on a set date), and also makes it very easy for me to shuffle articles around between days, change their order within a given day, and arrange themed days.

Hopefully this means fewer updates at 4:00 AM this year, but I guess we'll see what we'll see.

Unfortunately I seem to have lost a lot of the art I made for the previous years sites... Unless it was backed up in such a creative place that I just haven't found it yet. But it was about time to redo it anyway...

I also got a lot of work done on the PoEM RSVP form for Jenn, which should make planning for that a little easier as well. It's not particularly fancy, but it does work pretty well and already handles most situations pretty gracefully. Mostly I'm proud that I sat down and wrote the whole thing pretty much from scratch, in one sitting, and it works.

I guess I can thank all these piles and piles of data migration scripts I've been doing at work... I know more about data structures and string processing in PHP than I ever wanted to, and I can write an SQL-safe string parsing data inserting thing with my eyes closed. (Seriously, I did it last night. I was sleepy.)

Oh Shit

"I put on my robe and wizard hat"

I haven't talked about it, since it's a secret, but work has started on a new secret project at my day job. Not that anyone who uses LJ really gives a crap what my company is doing, or plans on competing with us, but our competitors do, I guess, hence the secrecy.

Anyway, what I can tell you is that it is now officially Project Anduril.

OMFG. We are such geeks. (This my boss's idea, by the way, the "responsible" one.)

If we divide up into fellowships to work on it, I'm going to have to start wearing a baseball cap to balance out the universe.

Also, is it bad for me to be getting excited about World Of Warcraft already? I think if I start playing two MMORPGs, I might need to be euthanized. (See, I skipped all the fantasy/medieval ones, and in fact categorically avoided all modern online rpgs until City of Heroes, so I'm not totally burned out on hitting orcs. And they seem to be Doing It Right (TM), but what would you expect from Blizzard?)

If you really can play a priest who tinkers with engineering and builds guns, I won't be the only one from the old D&D group sucked into that one...
